1. CHECK STEERING WHEEL FREEPLAY

(a) Stop the vehicle and align the tires straight ahead.
(b) Turn the steering wheel gently right and left, and check the steering wheel free play.
Maximum freeplay: 30 mm (1.18 in.)
If the free play exceeds the maximum, replace the steering intermediate shaft sub-assy or steering gear.

1. CHECK THROTTLE BODY
(a) Listen to the throttle control motor operating sounds.
Turn the ignition switch ON.
When pressing the accelerator pedal position sensor lever, listen
to the running motor. Make sure
no friction noise comes from the motor.
If friction noise exists ...
