Toyota Highlander Service Manual: Overhaul

HINT:

1. REMOVE BACK WINDOW PANEL TRIM UPPER

REMOVE BACK WINDOW PANEL TRIM UPPER


(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips and remove the trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

2. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH

(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 clips and remove the trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the RH side.

4. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSY

(a) Remove the assist strap cover.

(b) Remove the bolt and assist strap.

(c) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 16 clips and remove the back door trim panel.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

5. w/ Rear spoiler: REMOVE REAR SPOILER (See page 76-8 )

6. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSY

(a) Disconnect the control cable from the outside handle.

(b) Disconnect the back door cylinder to lock control link from the key cylinder.

(c) Remove the 3 bolts and the lock control.

7. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and cylinder.

8. REMOVE BACK DOOR HANDLE ASSY OUTSIDE

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and outside handle.

9. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR GARNISH SUB-ASSY OUTSIDE (See page 76-13 )

10. INSTALL BACK DOOR HANDLE ASSY OUTSIDE

(a) Install the outside handle with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 5.5 NVm (56 kgfVcm, 49 in.Vlbf) for B

11. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSY

(a) Install the cylinder with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 5.5 NVm (56 kgfVcm, 49 in.Vlbf) for B

12. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOCK ASSY

Torque: 12.5 NVm (128 kgfVcm, 9 ftVlbf)
